Hu, Xiong
Dr. Hu, Xiong is the Professor and Ph.D. supervisor of Shanghai Maritime University (SMU), Dean of Logistics Engineering College of SMU, as well as Dean of Sino-Dutch Mechatronics Engineering College of SMU. He got his Doctor's degree and bachelor’s degree both from Shanghai Jiaotong University and was a visiting professor of Queensland University of Technology (QUT) of Australia. Serve as Executive Director of Shanghai Mechanical Engineering Society, Chairmen of the Committee of Equipment Condition Monitoring, Assessment And Strategic Decision of Shanghai Mechanical Engineering Society, Deputy Director of Branch of Health Condition Monitoring of Shanghai Equipment Management Association, and so on.
Dr. Hu’s main areas of research and teaching works are included in (health) condition monitoring, (remote) control, (condition) assessment and (maintenance) management of large equipment and its structure, and intelligent processing and prediction of health condition data and signals of machines. In recent years his major research works are emphasized on the technique development and its application of health condition management, fault diagnosis, safety assessment, and integrated online system of the large hoisting appliances, such as cranes and logistics equipments. Dr. Hu was responsible for or participated in almost 100 research projects which were sponsored by National Funding Programs, government and both here and abroad enterprises, such as NNSF, 863 program, Dubai Aluminium Company Ltd., Port of Damman, Port of Shanghai, Shanghai Bao Steel Company, ZPMC, BV, etc.
So far, some achievements are as followings:
1. The 1st prize of 2005 Shanghai Higher Education Teaching Achievement Awards and other more prizes of Shanghai Science and Technology Progress Award in 2003 and China Port Science Progress Award in 2007.
2. 2 patents authorized by State Intellectual Property Office of the People’s Republic of China.
3. More than 50 sets of NetCMAS (Crane Monitoring and Assessment System on Network) and onsite testing and assessing techniques of hoisting appliances are developed and applied widely here and abroad in quayside container cranes, ship unloaders, floating cranes, overhead cranes, and ship vessels, and so on.
4. More than 60 international academic articles and symposium papers have been published, and more than 10 papers were indexed by America Ei-compendex. The planning material of Ministry of Communication of P.R.C. “computer-aided plant management system” was published in 1998.
5. Honorary Title: Distinguished Teacher of Shanghai High Education in 2006.
